Blog Post Title : Te Reo, Term 4 2016.

This term we have been learning all about the Marae. We have learned that…….

  • The Marae is an important focal point for the community.
  • The Marea is a place where tradition and customs can be carried out.
  • The Marae is a place where people can express their values with dignity.
  • There are many kawa ( protocols) that prevail on the marae.
  • Marae kawa (protocols) can differ between maraes and iwi.


We have focussed on some key concepts when doing this learning.
These are listed and explained in the table below.

The way we role.
Pōwhiri
A welcoming ceromony.
Tangata whenua
Are local people who are connected to the marae.9
Manuhiri
Visitors to the marae.

Gives you a home base to the marae.
Whanaungatanga
Relationships sense of family connection. Belonging.
Manaakitanga
careing for eachother.
Aroha
means love respect and caring for others.

parliament

Parliament

This term we have been learning about Parliament. We have looked at the difference between government and parliament, NZ parliament, who is in government, how our government works and we compared democracy to dictatorship.

Three things that I learned are NZ parliament are:

  • John Key sits in the fourth seat
  • The speaker can kick the prime minister out.
  • Democracy is better than dictatorship

Visual Art: WALT: Apply knowledge about shapes and patterns derived from nature into an original artwork


For Visual Art the SOLO level I achieved was: Multi structal because i can describe charctaristics and patterns about water coulers.


The 3 Visual Art techniques I used in my art work to achieve this level were: Moving water colers,glazing and shading.

Koru Games

The activity I did was football .Two of my highlights were. 1. that there was a tuck shop and we could by YUMMY food and  drink. 2. Coming first in football because our team all had to work hard to come first. Koru games was a fun experience in 2016.
